HEalth without physical or chemical crutches is our birthright.
Chiropractic treatment works to improve overall health by recognizing the relationship between the body’s structure and its function. This relationship is coordinated by the nervous system, the master controller of the body that includes the brain, spine, and nerves. Using a drug-free approach that includes in-depth patient examination and diagnosis, adjustments are performed, coupled with soft tissue treatment, to relieve stress on the structure and tissues of the body. The goal of chiropractic care is to improve joint motion and increase mobility, thus improving communication between the brain and body via the spine and nerves. This results in a vast array of health benefits and ultimately relieves pain, by supporting the body’s natural ability to heal itself when functioning in an optimal environment.
Manipulation of the spine, also known as an “adjustment” is central to chiropractic care. Other health care providers (e.g., medical doctors, physical therapists, or osteopathic physicians) may use spinal manipulation, but chiropractors are the most extensively trained in this manual therapy. Joint manipulation, involves using the physician's hands to apply a controlled, rapid impulse to a joint. The goal is to increase the range and quality of motion in the area being treated, restoring proper tissue function. Joint mobilization, in which the spine and other joints are moved slowly within their range of motion to promote healthy functioning, is another technique that is utilized. Both methods are pain free and typically considered enjoyable by patients. Chiropractic treatment in this office combines the use of manual therapies with several other treatments and approaches including; rehabilitative and postural exercises, deep heat, electrical stimulation, red and near-infrared light, and education in biomechanics, and ergonomics.
Chiropractic care is safe and effective for a number of conditions. It is a large and well-established health care profession in the United States and chiropractors are the primary care professionals for spine and joint health. Chiropractors offer readily accessible and affordable care, enabling you to avoid unneccesary drugs, surgery, and pain.
